box chevy ls swap?

hello all im a newb to this forum. i currently own a 83 box caprice and was wondering how many have done the ls swap into box caprices? im think of doing a 6.0 swap and was wondering how much involved it is to do the swap into the 80's body? im a member of ls1 tech and performance trucks and usually see the swaps going in f-body's ,novas Malibu's etc, but not a box Chevy. is there a vender that sells swap parts specifically for swaps into these cars? I've read that there are a few for the bubbles.also i saw the sticky for the swaps but it seems more for the b-body's. is it about the same for the box? BTW great forum guys.

Lots of box's out there with ls swaps in them, well not usually a ls1 if thats what you have in mind, usually they have lq4/lq9 carb setups in them.

Go to youtube and type in boxcalade thats just one off the top of my head right now that you can see in action.

Talk to KC Henry

This is his car, "Christine", a 1978 2-door Caprice

Here's his LS1.

Alright...

Well, I can take a stab at your questions.

I'm sure there are parts out there for LS swaps, but not anything specific to a boxy. All you should need are the appropriate motor/trans mounts, and rework the exhaust.

Your Boxy IS a B body. Most of what you see in the stickies should apply to your car.

I would also recommend Aknovaman.

I used TransDapt LS1 swap mounts on the engine in my 79. I notched the front crossmember for the F-body oilpan. I made the stock harness standalone. I bought a different serpentine kit for the front of the engine and sold the F-body kit.

BRPhotrods sells stuff for the swap, but I think you can do it with other parts for less.
