For sale is a 96 Caprice B4U, white with blue interior. I bought it in 2005 with 63K miles, and it now has 174K miles, but still looks like much less. I drove it as a daily driver for several years, but for the last three years it has been used for an occasional drive and drag racing with the Carolina Class Racers. It currently runs in G/Pure Stock class and runs 8.30s on a 9.10 index. It is also very streetable and recently driven on a Saturday afternoon trip of 150 miles with no problems.
Now for the details:
96 Caprice B4U, 174K miles on car, approximately 2K on new engine.
LT1 with balanced forged internals, mild Comp Cam and related valve train components. Short block assembled and heads prepped by Doc Bilbrey of Performance Specialties and installed and tuned by Mayhem Motorsports. Currently running OBD 1 computer, but also have a tuned OBDII computer. Exhaust is Clear Image Automotive tri-y headers with Pypes exhaust system with y-pipe and cat-delete pipes with cut-outs. Rear wheel HP is 305 and torque is 355.
Transmission was rebuilt by Staples Automotive Engineering in August, 2009 with all the good parts. Still pulls strong and shifts perfect. Now has a 3600 stall converter that was installed with the new engine after being rebuilt by Ultimate Converter Concepts.
Rear is a 9C1 width with an Eaton posi unit and 4.10 gears. Moser axles installed and rear brakes converted to disc brakes. All wheel studs are ARP extra length to accommodate Weld style wheels, no longer on the car. ABS module is removed from under the hood and a line lock installed.
AC compressor and related parts were replaced a couple of years ago and still work great. On those super hot days at the track, make a pass and turn the air on down the return lane.
That’s the major details of the build, and there are lots of other little odds and ends that are included. I have not been able to enjoy this car much during the past year, and it’s not looking like this year will be any better. I am asking $6,500 for the car, and this will not cover the cost of the engine build. If interested, please call me at 919-612-2672, or email grdavenport@hotmail.com.

Price drop

I reduced the price on the CL ad to $6000, so thought I better do the same here. Although, if someone from here comes to look at it and makes me a reasonable offer, it can be had for a little less. Just not spending the time with it I thought I would when I had the motor built, so hoping someone else can enjoy it as much as I have.
