Ok....either I'm missing the joke or your Spell checker failed you miserably. :wink2:
But do you mean....
....if not, do you have any more details of what it is you're after? Hooker Headers?...but why would you rent them? Please let us know, cause my copy of The HH is not in the best of shape. :grin2:
The bolts and chain are how I've done it the past 3x - by myself. I'm looking for anything that makes this fourth time a bit easier on the old back. Lord knows it ain't what it used to be. A load-leveler doesn't work too well underhood due to the back of the engine sitting behind the cowl.
I may just go ahead and buy it and then offer it for rental to the forum.
FWIW Speedway has one for 2/3 that price. Truth be told I bought one 15 years back for the (several) motors that went through my son's project Monte....I think? I could pop the motor without removing the hood?????
It wasn't pretty red, just anodized. But it would have been against my religion to have ever paid more than 25 bucks for one. lol
Ah Ha!!! Same principle as a Carb Lift Plate which I own and have used on SBC's before. long with a Tilter, these make an engine swap easier than having to deal with Chains. But dang that thing is PRICEY. Got an idea though....
Why not take a Standard Carb Lift Plate that has multiple holes that you hook to, something like this....
...which only cost about $10-$15 and then get a piece of Flat Stock that would mount to the LT1 Intake. Weld this Carb Plate to the Tope of the Flat Stock and you made your own Happy hooker for about 1/3 of the cost.
Not sure if I like the length of the hook part though. I have a low ceiling in the garage and think the hoist hook being closer to the block is better anyway. IIRC -with chains, they kind of hit around the FW area a little so a lift plate will be real nice the next time. Never thought of dropping in the LT1 that way before.
I did find an LS Lift Plate that would work for $39 but ship was $15. When pulling the motor next will probably just get a flat piece of Plate Steel that fits the LT1 intake and weld it to a regular lift plate I have. found one of those for $8 on the web if you're looking.
