cc503 cam, rrs, and springs

Ok, I've decided to go with the cc503 cam in my lt1. But with that comes a lot of things I don't know, so I need some help on other part selection. What I need to know, are the part numbers for the springs, RR's and Retainers

I know comp cams 915 or 918 springs are good. Not sure which I need. Or I heard some LS springs will work???

also not sure which RR's to go with

what retainers to use

what pushrods to use

and for lifters, just going to use stock gm ones from the dealer.

Thanks in advance

Do you have iron or AL heads?

Comp 915 or 918 springs....IMHO neither but your head type (AL or iron) will determine a spring recommendation

If AL heads, Get the Lunati spring kit #73925K5

for iron heads I would use the Crane 10309-1 spring kit

To many reports of spring failure on the Comp bee hives. Mine broke under 20k mi.....

The crane spring is good for .640 lift so even with 1:6 RR with the 503 cam you are good. They install same height as stock springs and you use your stock 7 degree locks with them.

Might want to replace your valve stem seals when you do springs. FelPro Viton you can get at most auto part stores

The Crane Gold "narrow body" 1:6 RR SA in the 3/8" (stock) stud size fit under the stock valve covers without any trimming. With that said the Comp Pro Mag, Ultra Pro Mag now, are a steel RR and considered stronger but you do need to do some minimal trimming of the braces inside the VC, no big deal. I have run the Crane RR though without issue on my iron head motor I am putting in another car

Great cam. Love my car after doing the same. I did heads, stall, tranny, gears, exhaust, fuel, etc at the same time.

I would suggest you keep the 1.6 rockers......unless you broke/damaged one or more of them.

Unless you have already gotten a smoking deal on the 503, I would suggest heading over to Lloyd Elliot at Elliot Port Works and have him spec a cam and springs based on your goals and what has been done to the car. The 503 historically hasn't been a bad cam, but there is room for improvement...
