JA9 Front Calipers availability

I am in the process of installing a complete stainless brakeline set in my 1995 9c1. Iíd like to replace the front calipers while Iím at it (I think they are the originals).
In looking up parts, I donít see any specific calipers offered for the police cars. Forum Sticky JA9 part numbers, when searched, seem to show calipers for regular old sedans and just about every model (not police).

RPO JA9 - 94-96 9C1 ("wide body" with thick pads)
19141350*- CALIPER (ACD Durastop reman)
19141351*- CALIPER
includes caliper bolts
*core charge

What have you 9C1 guys been buying for replacement calipers these days? I might end up rebuilding the ones I have.

Idle Searching

Searching GM part nos. listed by Navy Lifer in a 2001 thread (GM P/N 18021162 and 18021163), they are shown as currently available at least from GMPartsGiant. But those same nos. don't show in RockAuto who generally keeps good stock.

\'96SS SOB: SSRI, Herter Tune, Tri-Y II, SLP SS, 3000 Edge, F/HO bars, METCO extendeds and CV MMC, Bilsteins, currently Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta (315/35 rear)
\'96FWB BUW-Butt Ugly White: SS Bars, METCO LCAs, Koni Reds, PowerTrax No-Slip

Thanks guys!

The 18021162 and 63 #’s worked. I ebayed a pair of NOS made in Canada calipers for 80 bucks delivered. Also, the 18021162 and 3 #’s are referenced by a few of the rock auto remans and they are the HD calipers. It seems that HD is not always accurate to ID the JA9 caliper because some have the application as SS or regular sedan.

I did see a caliper on one of the gmpart sites for 140 bucks and it showed the 18021162 part superseded by 18039665. Wonder what the geneology is of the JA9 caliper..that is..the begets.

It’s interesting that all my calipers are original 1995 parts with 240,000 miles, many pad/hardware replacements and all are still fine. Preventative maintenance is the reason for replacing.

I wonder why they are so good? Some of the aftermarket assemblies advertise silicone material boots/seals. I’m fortunate to find NOS calipers and plan to keep my originals and clean ‘em up.

Seo9c1…I read thru your thread a few days ago and its a great write up. I see you chose to rebuild the fronts which was an option for me. Thanks for doing all that. I plan on replacing the rears too. The rears are a little easier to locate because there aren’t as many iteration of part #s.
