Converting to manual brakes

Has anyone done this conversion? This is going to be my drag car and will be removing any unnecessary weight. I plan on removing the ABS too.

Converting to manual brakes

I wouldn't remove the booster. Operating disk brakes manually requires great effort, and you could find yourself in a situation where you're unable to stop the car quickly enough. As far as the ABS,mine's been gone for years, and I love it.

Yea, I did it, but I'm now back to power brakes. Issues with the swap involve getting good pedal feel that doesn't tire you out while having a balanced system that doesn't require pumping them up each time.

What I did:
Strange MC with 1" piston
Wilwood GM III front calipers
Proportioning valve
Custom bracket for MC, which still has it tuck under the cowl (tough to fill)
Move the pivot point on the brake lever to adjust pedal throw/lever force.

Honestly there isn't much weight savings for the work and the hassle with trying to build a balanced system.

I forgot you did the conversion Glen. Guess I leave this alone for now. Just need to find other places to lose weight besides myself!

I have manual discs on my '58 wagon. Requires little pedal effort.
Sure it's a ford master, and 1980 chrysler m- body calipers/rotors and spindles, but it can't be that drastic a difference in pedal effort.
