96 SS no windows work

hello looking for some help on this randomly the other day the windows stopped working on my 96 ss i happened to have a couple spare parts to try on it but nothing seems to work .
changed out switch panel with known good one and still nothing switched up breakers in fuse box and still nothing. so i pulled off panel and chacked for power and low and behold THERES POWER at the plug but when i plug connector back into motor and measure then i get NO voltage?? what gives?
so i went and bought a new window motor plugged it in before installing and nothing it wont work. so i tried the motor on a battery outside of car and it works both ways? is this a lack of ground? or a short?

im stumped on this one guys any help would be great.

Check all grounds. Your ground is behind the A pillar kick panel on the driver's side. All of the window motors use that same ground.

so basically where you rest your foot at on the rug at the bottom of the pillar? i will check those it has to be something like that cause all the windows were working, has to be a ground just dont see why theres no power when i connect the motor and power when i disconnect.

Make sure the wiring, and connectors have continuity.

ok i will try doing that. i noticed 2 things besides the windows not working. the dash illumination lamps donot come on and door chime not working.

i also noticed that with key forward if i go to put up or down the windows at the switch the ABS light on cluster comes on as i push switch????
then if i hold switch down all the way the ABS light will stop illuminating and the air bag light stays lit while still holding the window switch down?

why would it do this, last thing i though is that the abs airbags and windows were all working on same circuit. what can this be?

also checked grounds and all were nice and tight at that location.

When you have a lot of things acting stupid, it is usually a ground. This is especially true when lights come on when you do something else.

My brother had a strange ground fault on a 73 Fury...when he tried to start the car, the starter would click, and the headlights would come on dim. It turned out to be the main engine ground that was a through bolt to the water jacket...real smart engineers put electrical wiring in contact with water, with other metals in the system.
