cruise control went out on 96SS impala, i know its the cruise control module but what year and make is compatible to the 96 SS? i went to the yards looking at caprice modules but the cable to the throttle body seems to have different plastic fittings than the one like on my SS.

The cable can be swapped between CC units. The worst case scenerio is that the control box is not compatable. I would try any 94-96 box with your cable. Let us inow how it works out.

1991 OCC 461 (.030 over 454) BBC, 3.23 posi, flash to pass, drop spindles & springs, custom fender skirts, stainless full moons, Recaros, Blazer console, MOMO/wood SW w/QR, custom wood shift knob, Pioneer DEH P77DH
1992 OCC now with 5.7 tbi, DEH P77DH

Call a junk yard. they can tell you which ones will interchange & then you might have to do what Fred said. Change the cabe.

Thanks Fred. after examining the CC box this morning i noticed that the cable could be pulled from the box. took cable from box went to pull a part got a box from a 94 roady and put my cable on the box. works like a charm! thanks for chiming in though!

The boxes from mid 90s S10 and Blazers as well as 90s full size trucks and vans and up will work. Most of the cars exc. B bodies wont work because they need the the signal from the PCM. The one on my SS is from a 99 old body style Suburban.

The '96 cruise box is different, and will not work with the older cars. I learned this the hard way on my project car. Replaced it with a '95 box, and it worked perfectly. It's apparently an OBD2 thing.

I have one I'll send you for $30.
