I used 3M Weatherstrip Adhesive From Autozone Part #08609. It worked just fine.

I used Permatex right stuff RTV..

BTW, Does anyone know of any substance that will Dissolve RTV? Sure, maybe gasoline would break it down as RTV is usually not fuel safe, But wouldn't that damage the plastic?

I wish I used the 3m strip caulking instead!

RTV is relatively inert. You would be better off using butyl cauking. The lenses clip together if you did not break the getting them apart. the cauking is only to waterproof them.

Gasoline and plastic are not happy together. Gasoline is a solvent for most plastics, and it stinks.

Agreed. I just used an outdoor caulk from the hardware store.

tail light lens adhesive?

I believe the wax/grease remover commonly used by body-shops to prep panels for paint will soften/dissolve RTV,without damage to the plastic itself.
