Just did mine back in June. Got the spectra ones from rockauto. Fit ok, at first they didn't 'hug' the tank like the old ones, but now fit fine after a couple of tankfuls. Also, either fell out of the box or didn't come with one, I needed to reuse the one bolt that connects the cross strap to the other. One end is connected but not the other, just like stock. Original was still good even though the straps were bad enough that they just twisted off and broke.
Either one should be OK. It's 2 pieces, but one has a V shape so looks like 3. That ebay seller, AM Autoparts is awesome. Bought from them many times, but not yet for SS or RM. Best prices, warranty, and service. Wish there were wagon straps, altho I don't need them, many others do.
I was thinking the same thing as BallSS, straps look so GREAT they make the rest of the underside of the car look really dirty. > Sometimes it never ends when you clean up 1 part and the parts next to it look worse. But at some point, you gotta stop or you'd end up having to do a frame off restoration. :wink2:
Case in point, when I detailed my Front Suspension after an upgrade, it looked freaking awesome BUT the Frame, the inner fender and other parts looked even worse. Just had to stop and told myself that the new shiney parts would end up matching everything else anyway, so why bother. :nerd:
good Spectra is making replacements. back when my SS was new I sprayed mine black. Was driving behind the SS following wife and didn't like the shiny straps against the black tank. Fortunately after 20 years of calif. weather there is no rust
Wagon straps will go on order at the end of the month once the Eagle craps. T'was the first repair done to my 95 once parked in the driveway - nuts/bolts for the separated spot welds. Currently matches nicely with the rusted frame, diff, brake lines, and exhaust system! But this will change soon as 'security' is first and foremost.
And, if I might add.....
"Decent F'n Thread!"
Problem/issue presented, parts source stated, product purchased, optional improvements, pro/con vendor product/feedback, and installed w/ pics. Well done; just like the old days. Read: No BS.
Been here since Day One and am still learning after how many years? Thank you gentlemen.
