Hard start

I have a 96 impala,,

Recently I have noticed the following

I start the car at the afternoon and it starts from the first crank, I drive it for 5-10 min. leave it for an hour or two,, try to start it, can't do it until I keep holding the switch for a while and some time a push on the pedal..

The cars runs and drives smooth,

New fuel filter, new spark plugs wires, new PCV
Spark plugs are 1.5 years old NGK, the fuel pump has a noisy sound since I bought the car 2 yrs ago!

Thinking of performing a pressure test for the fuel pump.

Suggestions ppl please

Pull the vac hose off the fuel pressure regulator. If it has any gas residue or a drip of gas the regulator is bad. My 94 wagon had the exact symptoms and a new regulator made it start instantly again. Hope this helps!!!!!

try to check or put a new regulator on the fuel rail...

also it could be quite a few things... you have to do the process of elimination technique...

not starting all the time could be anything from the ignition switch in the steering column to a major ignition problem.

Checked the regulator and there is no gas residue or a drip of gas.

made a pressure test and got the following:

1- switch on, engine off 51 psi.
2- engine on 45 psi
3- pressing the pedal 50 psi

So I think the fuel pump is working fine and responsive

Changed the Temp sensor and will see !!
