OBD1 scanning tool help

Hi I am trying to pull codes from a 1994 caprice classic LS so I went out and bought this Innova CanOBD2&1 tool because it says it should work. But it is saying the computer is not connecting or responding..... Can someone help? anyone own this tool or try to use it. I'm about to return the POS and lose my mind. Thanks.

Return it. It doesnt work for 94 GM cars. Here is a quote from the specs page of that device.

As suggested in tons of threads here, get an ALDL cable from pcmperformance. com and use freescan or datamaster.

It does according to the instructions?
The instruction manual has a chart for what 1982-93 models it covers then charts for '94 and '95 models. It lists the '94 Caprice 5.7 twice and the '94 Buick 5.7 among others for that year, for '95 it doesn't cover much.
The manual says what to check and do if it doesn't respond, probably already been through all that with no luck?
x2 on returning it and getting the cable.
