Hello, 1995 LT1 caprice. Stock 4L60E. Seems to have minor slip (.5 second) during the 2-3 shift during normal driving. More frequent when tranny is cold. No slip detected at WOT and when manually shifting the column. 80K miles. Intermittent issue. Fluid (good color) and filter changed and at correct level. Thanks for any insight. Uvaldi..
my 96IMP now has 80K miles also. I had a tranny shift issue 2 yrs ago. the tranny would have a delayed up shift into 4th gear. now having owned this now 21 yrs I knew 4th should be @35MPH NOT 48MPH.
since I do keep my vehicles over a decade some 30 yrs these rubber seals do cause sticking and this additive does work.
tools required is a suck hand pump and some 3/8 in tubing to suck out the fluid of about 16 oZ.. then add this bottle of conditioner. add while the engine is running and then drive it a few miles then adjust the tranny level when at temp. see if it works and how it shifts. then after a few months change the fluid and if necessary replace the filter.
I have changed my fluid 4 times now @every 20K miles but I still needed this product because of the age.
I also do not use or recommend any dexron III which is not synthetic .. what I have been using since 1999 is mobil synthetic dexron/mercon tranny fluid.
in 2006 GM no longer approves of the use of dexron III now replaced by dexron VI. VI is synthetic but a slightly different viscosity than the mobil synthetic I use. 1999 VI did not exist.
some that repair trannys may say don't do it its broke I will make the repairs and bill you about $2K. well I will say this if it does not fix it then you lost $9....if it does fix it you saved $2K .
Actually it is a 3-4 slip. It I keep in in Drive no issues or manually select OD from third it shifts fine..also if I just put it in OD and get on it it works well with no flare. Very annoying...Took it to a good tranny shop and they found that the PCM was trying to apply the tcc on/off during the 3-4 shift phase...I have my doubt but maybe...Anyone with some insights?
Everyone should be running either a trans kit, Transgo HD or I understnad Sonnax has a new one that is preferred, or a PCM tune to turn up the line pressure and crisp up your shifts as well as adjust those annoying stock shift points. PCM Performance and an ALDL cable is needed for that and you should get the tune and some data logging software anyway if you plan to keep the car and work on it yourself. Stop fooling around with additives and all of that and do it right.
additives can help with the cleaning and seal conditioning ... if its broke no additive will fix it. most times if its broke the transmission will always mess up... if its erratic then a conditioner may correct the shifting issue. what have you got to loose 10 bucks !
I would rather spend $10 than hundreds or ??? few K $..
