so keep them or do they go with the car?

There's legal considerations depending on your state I'm sure. Depends whether you married her, in which case I think you have to keep her. Have you thought about a lease?

I just sold one of my b-bodies. I kept all my trophies. Same with my 67 Camaro I so stupidly sold many years ago. And the racecar trophies.

I never considered letting the awards go with the car that I have been fortunate enough to receive over the 20 years I have owned the car. I have two buyers who have made offers and one asked if the trophies go with car. I have a "one sheet" listing mods on one side and awards on the other which is why one potential buyer asked.

The awards themselves grace the walls & shelves in my garage. I have never displayed them with the car at shows I have been in over the years

The car is not listed for sale....but like every car, boat, toy it is for sale at the right $.....and these two offers are in the range I would consider

Assume we aren't talking Trophy Wife/girlfriend here.

But if there is no emotional attachment to them and if it truly helps you sell you're car.....let them go.

I would be inclined to keep the trophies. "I earned them, they're mine!"

But as stated....if they help sell the car for the price you'd want, and you have no strong attachment to the trophies (hell....you don't even display them), then let 'em go!

IMO, of course.....

no Tad....67 Chevelle 396 4 speed. Miss the 70 Nova I sold Jeff and should have never sold the 70 Torino (remember working on that back at Joes?). Just going to get another old classic if I sell it.

The first offer is from a guy who owns a PR company and GM is one of his clients. He did the press launch for the SS from Cape Kennedy back then (he sent me pics of the event) and did see the 5 speed SS Moss did. He owned a 96 but sold it. Saw my car at a cruise night and made me a offer. I have been to the same cruise event several times since and he always asks and says his offer is good anytime I want to take it

2nd guy saw it at another cruise who also used to have one but always wanted a stick in his. He has since contacted me with his 2nd offer which is VERY close to me accepting $

With even the vaguest interest you should keep-em. Inanimate objects don't win prizes: the owner or driver does. They should be worth next to nothing to anyone who didn't win them.

Some of them things can get pretty fancy - and pricey. At the point where you're actually debating one way or another, then the tipping point could be the greater worth simply donating them to a group as feel-good awards to some deserving kids or something. All at just the price of the trophy shop slapping new labels on. Just a thought.

trophies

I would say that sure the person who did the work should keep the trophies....so therefore if you had someone else build your car, then any trophy you win should be taken to their shop and left with them...Oh, not a good idea? The CAR earned those trophies. Sure, you may have put in the hard work, but you didnt enter yourself in the show. You entered the car. If a car wins the awards, then the awards should stay with the car. If a car wins Pebble Beach, you be dang sure that that trophy will always stay with the car. If the trophies mean that much to you, then what does the car mean to you? Not enough to not sell it right? So, why do the trophies mean much either? I guess if a few trophies hold sentimental value then keep them, but I must disagree, the trophies should go with the car. If the buyer wants them anyways. But, thats just my two cents. I feel like the trophies are a part of the history of that car, not that person necessarily. I can definitely see where its a touchy area though...me personally, I have no attachment to things like that. I have won state and national awards in horticulture, and I couldnt even tell you where they are now. Yes, 3rd place in the nation, and its packed away in a box somewhere. Its just plastic, and cheap wood guys...the scars, the conversations, and the memories are what are worth anything at all. The rest is just junk that needs stored or displayed.

Also, giving kids awards just for no reason, or participation awards, is stupid. "Here kid, you did nothing at all! Take this trophy." Eh, I just see it setting an attitude of entitlement. These kids are gonna grow up and think they should get raises at work just because they showed up. It worked in sports and sports teaches life lessons right? So, by the way they were taught, just showing up has always gained rewards...Hold the trophies and awards for those who genuinely earned them. In this case, the car ;)

Car show trophies - sure, I'd let them go. It's a car show and honeslty, who cares. Trophies won due to racing or other non-static competing, I keep.

I wouldn't let trophies go with a car I sold for the simple reason that I can't stand when people buy a built car and claim they built it. Other than that, every year a few of those cheap plastic things get thrown away to make room for the next ones to come. To me, $20/30/50 entrance fee to a show is money well spent for a premium parking spot and to spend time with friends hanging out. Just my .02

Trophies...

...should stay with the person that did the work. The car wins them, but the guy/girl putting in the time and effort to make the car nice get the recognition.
