: Aluminum Radio Mount.
I just had a prototype Radio Mount made. This is almost the same as a Metra Kit Part Number 99-3300. We can get them polished, anodized, powder coated or whatever the heart desires. We are also looking at some engraving if anybody is interested.
I do not know what cost will be on the part yet. They are going to get that together for me.
I am thinking about a group purchase to get the ball rolling.
What are your thoughts?
Here are a couple of shots.

maesstro 10-29-2009, 09:07 PM That's interesting. I wonder if a krinkle black powdercoat would match the surrounding plastic?
1994 SS 10-29-2009, 09:31 PM I have a plastic one of these which looks pretty cheap IMO. Be cool to replace it with a quality piece. Interested in one with black anodized finish. Thanks

If it is truely a copy of the Metra Kit yes it will recess your headunit to flush with the rest of the dash but will require you to cut/trim/remove/break and piece behind the headunit so it has enough depth. Which is what I did.
These look great, prolly out of my price range, but look good none the less.
The backspace on the radio is about 1/8" less than the Metra Kit. The was to keep the tooling cost down.
On a side note, this kit will also work with the 1997-2002 Camaro and 1997-2004 Corvette and quite a few other vehicles that I don't think I need to list.
The next part that I am working on is an Aluminum replacement switch for the Power Windows and Power Seats. There are 11 of these switches in the car and I thought that they would look real nice in Aluminum.
I will try to get the price on these by Monday. Thanks again and I would appreciate any input!
Hilpala SS 10-30-2009, 04:00 PM Definitely a hot item HACK! If I didn't already have a metal relocation kit in mine I'd be all over this.
The metal switches sound like a solid plan as well! I think I will follow this thread for sure. If only the aluminum door bezels weren't so much :( .

I am working on that also. Even if it's only for my car.......
DeathmobileSS 10-30-2009, 05:41 PM The switches would be awesome! I can't wait to hear more. Shawn

I bet you're right! The only problem with that is now you'll need to make door lock and handles to match.
aSSaSSin 11-19-2009, 01:52 PM This looks great! I haven't had my car long and one of the 1st things I'm doing is replacing the stereo and speakers. Have you gotten any prices yet?? Very interested.
Midlifecrisis 11-19-2009, 03:52 PM damn i wondered where this thread went.. yeah if i don't get this local setup id be interested in one.

OK. My CNC guy just got back with me on the switches. I don't think we will be doing any of them. My COST is going to be about $75 PER SWITCH. There are 11 switches in the car. Let me do the math for those of you that have your mouths open..........wait for it........$825 COST for 11 switches.

There has been zero interest for the switches. a few people liked the dash kit this weekend at Hossfest.
Baby_Jesus 09-30-2010, 02:31 PM Do you have a pic of this cnc dash kit installed with a stereo? I want to see how it looks on inside the cabin....

Baby_Jesus 10-01-2010, 08:35 AM Ooooh that is very nice. Now to find a nice single din stereo to mate it with (no flip out screen) to reap its shiney benefits.
impalassclone1994 10-01-2010, 11:51 AM Keep me updated hack. I would buy one of the radio dash piece for sure!!!
