Too bad. I used to get parts from him. He knew his stuff about these cars.

Dal is retired and staying warm(er)--compared to Ohio, anyway--in Brooksville Florida. (http://www.impalassforum.com/vBulletin/showthread.php?t=230467&highlight=slabaugh) (click for more)

I was able to meet up with Dal and his new wife in early November, on the way back to the Atlanta area from visiting my sister in Bradenton FL - they're both doing well!

The info was posted but the Forum data loss wiped it out. Pat, Dal's first wife, passed away in August 2008, after several years of illness and decline. It was a sad time for everyone that knew her.

Best wishes to Dal and his wife for a long, healthy, and happy life together.

He was one of the truly good guys.

I used to buy plenty of parts from Dal when he was still working. I e-mailed him just before he retired and he highly recommended a company located somewhere in Texas who I used a while back. I'll have to dig around for the contact but if anyone is interested I'll post that information once I come across it. They know Dal pretty well which helps in the customer service department.

That would be RMS Autoparts and they are really good people, everything ships out promptly if GM doesn't get in the way as can happen with some of the more oddball parts.

I had a chance to meet Dal and his wife,
When our ISSCA Nationals were in Pocono, Pennsylvania.

My fellow ISSCA member Jim Moulton from Kingston ,Ontario.

Jim grabbed me in Pocono,
To let me know were Dal and his wife were located at the ISSCA Auto Cross event.

I finally had a chance to Thank Dal in person,
For his quick service and knowledge of our vehicles.
It was great talking to Dal and hearing about his lifetime in the automotive field.

Back in 2000,
Dal was a big help in locating brand new GM parts,
for the restoration of this 96 9c1 Lt1 that was in police service for 4 years.

Big Daddy in 1998 was looking for a Non-White 96 9c1 Lt1,
to keep the miles off his Mint Condition 96 Impala SS.

(White 94 & 95 Lt1 9c1 were plentiful at Police Car Auctions that I attended)

I was able to locate a Factory Silver 96 9c1 Lt1 that just came out of Police Service.
(Only 10,859 - 1996 9C1 Police Sedans were built in Arlington, Texas.)

After work and family,
I would work on Art's 96 9c1 in my home garage.

To get all the brand new General Motors OEM Parts from Dal in Ohio.

I would E-mail Art in Long Island, NY with the GM Part Numbers.
Art would order the missing or damaged parts.
In a few days,
Boxes of Discounted OEM New GM parts would arrive at my home garage from Dal.

Last I heard,
Big Daddy's Silver Rocket is pushing 250,000 miles.

Photo above from 1998 with Big Daddy's 9c1 on Patrol.
This police department only had two Factory Silver 1996 9c1 Lt1 Chevrolets.

I was able to get these Chevrolets into friends hands in 2000 and 2001.
My Friends still have these Caprices today.
