looking at the lines coming out of the heater core today. About midway along side of motor the lower line has a plastic restrictor valve (??) attched to a metal flange back into a rubber line that then goes on to the water pump. Well I notices steam coming off that line today and was touching it and BOOM in my face the plastic pc went south and water went everywhere. Can I cut out that plastic pc and bypass that so I still have a connected heater core line, again the lower line. Since my heat SUCKS anyway perhaps I need to just bypass the heater core until I put in a new one.

Anyone? It's the two lines coing out of the heater core. The bottom one I think it was about half way along side the motor the line had some type of plastic pc in it. It blew up on me. Can I just take that out of the system and put in metal tube to patch the line? The plastid pc just looked like some type of restrictive device.

Why do you think the plastic restrictor is there? For a reason, to reduce the flow to keep your heater core from blowing. Flush your heater core and replace the restrictor and the plastic t-fitting while you are at it. You can rig up a temporary bypass if you don't mind the absence of the heater.

I am searching for all green hoses from a 9c1. I am not messing with these normal hoses.

Here's a link with the part number for Rock Auto. The green hoses are a good idea also.

I had that same piece go out on my car. Drove home with just a piece of steel pipe hose clamped to fill the gap. Didn't know what that piece was there for so i figured I would patch it up and go, well I blew up my heater core shortly after that. Replace that restrictor. It is a very good idea.
