Something my dad sent me. Looks like a new muffler from dynomax. Worth taking a look at.

Looks like a quality piece. Dynomax always improving.

I did not think the Ultra Flo's droned at all when I had them.

I currently run the Hooker Aerochambers and like them, but these do look nice.

That's an interesting design. When the valve is partialy open, does the rest of the exhaust go through the CRF layer, and then out the muffler just past the valve? I couldn't tell from the cutaway pic. If it works like that, it would be kind of like having two mufflers in one. I'd like to hear a set. :)

thing does look cool. might just solve that drone pending if it sounds good enough.

So does anyone know where you can get these? I called summit and they have never heard of such a thing. They said they're adding it to their database and will get information from dynomax.

I checked the dynomax site, and didn't see anything.

OK. I'll play devil's advocate...

More parts to eventually corrode, break and make a rattling noise? Straight through's are nice not only because of CFM's, but also because there's fewer things to break inside.

Just a thought. Carry on...

I really dont see that spring lasting long at all with all the heat, time, and weather.

Don't some of the newer corvettes use something similar, but with a vacuum solenoid?

I'm gonna say that Dynomax must know something by now,,,,,,they've been building exhaust stuff forever, so I'm sure they did their homework, especially since they put a lifetime guarantee on it!!!!!

I'd like to see those on the Dynomax kit for our cars.

I think that squashes that aspect. But then I bet they are gonna be some $$$$.

Yeah if they built the parts inside to last it's gonna cost some serious cash. They have been doing valves in motorcycle (sportbike) exhaust for awhile and I have heard of some problems. They are controlled electronically. Most ppl change out the systems pretty quick on bikes "Loud Pipes Save Lives". So you never know if they really last. Yamaha calls it "EXUP" there are others but I have dealt with Yamaha mostly. The bottom line though is that if it's built right it will perform well.

That brings my to the next thing. If you run a high horse power engine with some serious exhaust before the muffler what are the chances that the valve would just stay open? It would seem that this spring would need to be selected depending on exact application to get the most out of it perfomance wise. Just my 2 cents.

Here is a good read on what putting the valve in the exhaust can do besides the obvious noise reduction at lower engine loads.

I'm sure they will put heavier springs on the mufflers with larger diameter flanges, expecting them to go onto motors with large diameter pipes and bigger flow needs!

Has anyone heard this muffler?

This is the part I like (see below) :) .

The new DynoMax muffler’s proven performance advantage can be seen in recent flow-bench testing of the DynoMax VT (No. 17956), MagnaFlow (No. 11226), and Flowmaster (No. 42541) products. The DynoMax VT muffler delivered 841 cubic-feet-per-minute flow, compared to 588 CFM for the MagnaFlow and 373 CFM for the Flowmaster.
(Note: Test conducted on 14-in. body with 2 1/2-in. offset/center configuration.)

Nice, I wonder what they're going to run.

Some bmw 328is had a flap very similar to that on one of the 2 exhaust pipes. A common mod is to connect it wide open.
