I did some searching...however, where does the orifice tube get installed??

Thanks!

At the fitting coming out of the condenser (right beside the battery). It's in the hard line that goes to the firewall (not the hose coming from the compressor).

What he said - it is in the smaller of the 2 AC lines. Not expensive - $5 or so. FSM is good to have. You realize the system has to be evacuated when this is done?

Thanks for the info guys! Yeah my system is empty...I've been lazy about fixing a leak. But it's good to go now...just figured I throw in a tube before I vac and fill.

Anyone know if the correct orfice tube is
GM#: 19189842 or 3096068?

I have no idea on which part number is the correct one, but did want to comment on the empty thing. Empty is NOT evacuated and it is very likely that the dryer will need to be dryed if it has been empty for a while. I have learned a lot in the last few months from my neighbor who has an HVAC business and has been doing this for nearly his entire life. Turns out it's not as mysterious as it seems when you don't understand it...and I thought I understood most of it already cwm4

To evacuate the system, someone will need to put a slight refrigerant charge in there and then pull it way down, which means as close to -29.92" Hg as possible, with a vacuum pump then charge it back up from there with a fresh charge and the correct amount of oil.

As for the dryer, you will either need to purchase a new one and install it immediately before charging or dry yours out. I put mine in the oven (while the wife was at work) at 175º for about 8 hours then ran it out, hooked it up and had the neighbor evacuate the system while it was still hot. The whole process, from the time I opened the oven door until I had good cold A/C was less than 30 minutes...and it is just as cold as brand new.
