I had to retrofit to r-134 yesterday. I vacuumed system down to 30 inches of mercury helled that for 30 mins. Had to jump the compressor to suck down the can of pag 100 and add 3 cans of "high mileage" r-134. I then added part of a 4th can and the compressor sucked it down on its own.
In all i added ~7 onces of oil and ~42 ounces of r-134.

The readings of my gauges are 48psi low and 185 high.

are these numbers fine? I did everything that was stated off the camaro tech article off 3rd gen. just had to weak it since the straight up 134 round here was not compatible with residual r-12 and lubricant and the caprice has slight bit more capacity

A/C is working alright; drove about 50 miles with it on. Compressor is a little quieter with the retrofit. maybe could install an auxillary fan

anything i should look out for?

System pressure is dependent on outside temperature, humidity and compressor speed. That being said, your pressures seem ok, if that's at idle.

I've done this conversion several times and never had a problem. It's never as cold as R12, and not quite as good as a system designed for R134A, but it'll at least keep you comfortable.

yeah i took those b4 it got hot out and once it did the clutch cycled on and off now adding a little more. the static pressure seems low to me tho w/o compressor running

well static went way to far off the gauge had to bring it back down to 120psi to get compressor to cycle on. While running low is 45 then goes down some when above idle. high side is up to 250psi when above idle.
