: A/C Accumulator Schrader valve

My brother's 96 caprice wagon is losing refrigerant from a slow leak at the Low side schrader valve, located on the accumulator. It also seemed to be leaking slightly from the High pressure shrader valve, but he put a different cap on and it seemed to go away.

What part do I need to replace this ? Is it possible to change just the valve or do I change the whole accumulator ? Does the accumulator (15-1751 - Accumulator) as purchased HAVE the valve already in it ?

Since the leak is at the schrader valve he would like to avoid using stop leak in order not to gum up the valve and have it stuck.

Thanks,

If I recall, Vatozone sells packs of replacement valve cores, that comes with the tool to remove them. They come out just like a regular tire valve core.

My honda has a very slow leak at the low side fitting, but the o-ring in the dust cap is enough to keep it from leaking..

Sadly, you need to discharge the system to replace them. (Unless you splurge for the 50+ $ tool online)

Maybe I'm misremembering, but aren't R134A refrigerant valves ball-lock and not Schrader valves? If that's the case, if what brandonmillsap suggested doesn't work, you'll have to change out the whole accumulator. Luckily, that's not too expensive.
