: Roadmaster center console?
Can somebody confirm the Buick Roadmaster, 91-96, came with a center console that opened and had cup holders in GM mid 90s burgundy leather? All i keep seeing is cloth burgundy?
Of course I ask, because my Caprice doesn't have cup holders (or an opening center console for that matter).
Thanks
Fred Kiehl 04-22-2012, 01:10 AM Up to 93 none of the B body cars had cup holders for sure. 94 and after may have had cup holders, depending on the options. They had two styles of consoles with cup holders as well. One had two panels for the top, and the other had only one. The single panel style had the flip out cup holder, and the two panel had an integral cup holder. They did come in ruby red (burgandy) in the 94-96 cars.
ScottLC 04-22-2012, 01:13 AM I've been into the vodka tonite so maybe I am misunderstanding what you said. With that said, my mom bought a Roady Sedan new in 92 or 93 and it had the same flip out cup-holder console as her later Fleetwoods had.
Fred Kiehl 04-22-2012, 07:56 AM If she bought it in 93, it may have been a 94, which would have the console with cup holders. I have not verified the 93s not having them, but I do not remember seeing any in the junk yards. I am sure I will be corrected if I am wrong.
Goldmaster 04-22-2012, 09:08 AM If it helps any, I had a 93 RMS parts car and it had the flip out cup holders (in the lid). The same as my old 94. I had a 95 and currently a 96 and those have the little black cup holder attachement that hangs on the armrest (not built into the lid).
Edit: here are a couple pics
The 93

The 96 (cup holder not seen here) but it's an attachment that just hooks on and hangs there. Not part of the lid like the 93

HAZZARDJOHN 04-22-2012, 09:13 AM i've owned two 92's RMS's (one built in early 91) and they both had flip out cup holders. I had a burgndy interior in one but it was cloth. I know I have been in a burgundy leather one many times over the years with cup holders. (I've test driven a lot of Roady's)
TheAndyMan 04-22-2012, 09:19 AM There is a burgandy console on ebay right now with the two lids. I have been looking for the same console with two lids in burgandy cloth and cannot locate one for my Caprice Wagon

Indeed indeed...we have a definitive answer, and possibly one more reason for me to stick with factory burgundy leather interior...
However, I am compelled to ask...are there any better consoles that will fit in a 94 burgundy leather caprice, such as from a 96 fleetwood for example?
Fred Kiehl 04-23-2012, 06:57 AM Since it has been determined that many years had cup holders in the console, the issue is color. The 91-93 cars had dark maple red interiors, except for 93 which also may have ruby red interiors as well. The 94-96 B bodies have ruby red interiors, and the D bodies have different color red interiors than the B body cars. 93 D bodies (FSM) had 2 reds, bordeaux, and garnet. I do not know the interior colors of the 94-96 D bodies.
Smitty 05-06-2012, 11:04 AM Hello everyone!
I was wondering if anyone has changed just the console/arm rest...
I now have a 94 RMW with blue leather interior, but I have never liked the cup holder in the 94 arm rest, I prefer the style I know that the 95 has...
I wonder how hard it is to replace just the arm rest from one year to the other? And that would be after finding a good 95 Blue Leather Roady arm rest!

There are 4 nuts holding the arm rest bracket to the seat bottom. The easiest way to replace the arm rest is by taking the entire bracket with the armrest. Removing the pivot screws can break the nylon washers that protect the covering from damage when rotating the unit.
Smitty 05-07-2012, 08:20 AM Thanks for the info!
Now I just need to find a 95 Roadmaster blue leather armrest! LOL
I figured there should probably be a simple way to do it, but you never know till you try... or ask someone who has!
God's blessings,

MightyCaprice 05-09-2012, 08:43 AM I know my 96 Caprice had an opening arm rest lid and had two cup holders that unfolded out and folded back in. I can get a picture if you're not sure what I'm talking about. Could probably find it in whatever color your looking for, cloth or leather.

88LT1Wagon 05-09-2012, 10:31 AM Are the arm rests interchangeable between Caprices and RMs? Will they fit the 77-90 Caprices? I hadn't realized ANY B bodies had useful arm rests, none of mine flipped open or had cup holders, but I would love to have that functionality
AZ Roadmaster 05-10-2012, 10:00 PM I have a blue RMS center console in cloth if you are interested.
88LT1Wagon 05-11-2012, 01:07 AM My interior is tan so that wouldn't really jive :-/ I'll pull the center arm rest out of my 95 this weekend and see how it compares to my 88's before I purchase anything, but it sure would be nice to have a cup holder when my wife isn't there
