I gotta question I read your thread on putting back on the hub and is in the process of doing so, my problem is putting back on the hub. I start to see the hub go back on slowly using a threaded rod a 7/8 socket and a stack of washers jus like ur picture. As I turn the nut to tighten the hub continously the threaded rod turns as well, this is with pressure now. So I stopped took out the rod to see any signs of stripping but rod seems OK n inside looks OK. So I tried again and same thing occurs. Right now I have a pair of grips on the end of the threaded rod to hold still as I turn the nut, u can imagine how hard this is. Any ideas..???

I feel your pain and have done stuff too that has created more work for me. But be careful of trying to patch up a broken gasket with some RTV. It would be best to get a new Pan Gasket and fix it right. Not having to worry about it blowing out at the worst time would be worth the piece of mind.
