I got a 3.46 posi rear end off a 1992 9C1 from pick and pull for about $100. The rear end is a little narrower than than the impala. It made a vast improvement. You will have to pull the axles to avoid paying for the brakes at the yard and to inspect the condition of the part.
Next, get a tune for the computer.
