One more thing--when left in D and given WOT, the car shifts at around 6300-6400 on the tach (it has a Z28 gauge cluster). Should the 26918s be good up to 6500rpm or so? I haven't been able to find...

If he didn't already have a set, I'd probably opt for the $110 set if they were of comparable quality, but if you guys feel comfortable recommending the 918s, then I'll go with them. I'm pretty sure...

The 918s my mechanic has are the 26918-16 kit. In the pic, they appear to be single-spring. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/cca-26918-16/overview/

Thanks for the responses, guys. I forgot to add that the heads were sourced from a Corvette, so they're aluminum, and were ported, polished, etc, by Lloyd Elliot back in '06 or so. The engine has...

I'm not positive my mechanic replaced the plugs, but I think he did.

No backfiring. Opti has been replaced with no change, so presumably all of the connections, if they weren't good before, they...

That sounds similar to a few other stories I've read about hard-to-find misfires. I'll just have my mechanic put a new set of plug wires on it--probably cost me close to the same in labor to have him...

Thanks for the detailed response. No CEL, so maybe the leak isn't pre O2, but it's audible from the passenger side rear of the engine bay. The exhaust smell when the HVAC is on has been a constant...

What spark plug wires with headers? (Misfiring LT1)

My '94 Caprice has headers (also cam, ported Z28 heads, etc) and has been misfiring at idle, cruise and load. I found a few threads that suggested that it could be a plug wire shorting out, so I'm...
