Default Would you own this 1930 Ford?

My good friend down the street called me yesterday because he needed a hand. When I got to his house this was in his garage (yeah bad cell phone pics and it had just started raining).

The story:
My friend has been telling me about this hot rod that belongs to the husband of his wife's close friend. It has been sitting in the garage for years at a time and needed a detail badly (aluminum polished ect.). My friend has offered (for free) to detail this car several times and go through it to make sure everything was maintained. A couple of weeks ago the owner of the car took it to his detail guy to have it polished and cleaned ect... His detail guy had lost his drivers license so he could not pick it up. After it was detailed the guy with no license took it for a ride (who wouldn't in most cases?). While cruising down the interstate he got on it which broke caused it to get sideways and the right rear tire clipped something. The car ended up out of control and smashing into a tree backwards.

Looks like it was nice

SBC 400+ Hp with some nice billet aluminum

A/C and cruise control!

The hood flew off and got a little tweaked

Nice interior with all digital gauges (battery was dead, so mileage unknown for now).

Power windows!

The damage

Poor hot rod

We both had a close look of the entire car for the first time. It has a mustang 2 front end, complete custom boxed frame and a corvette rear (the underside was just as nice as the rest of the car). From the looks it was redone in the early to mid 90's?

The owner did not want to go through his insurance and really did not use the car at all, so after two weeks of storage outside the car was given to my friend for
Free!
The owner felt bad that he had given my friend a totaled car and wouldn't even let him pay the $550 tow storage bill. The owner was just going to give the title to the tow yard at first, but luckily his wife spoke up and said I wonder if my friend wanted it.
I would take it and am happy that my friend (who is a real gear head) got the car for free. Figured I would share what I thought was a cool story.

That was a pretty ugly hot rod even before the wreck, but the price was certainly right, and everything has potential. Sounds like a good deal for your friend!

inoryte?! And cause I don't wanna be an also-ran, it just leaves me with the options of stating something incorrect or stating nothing...and I know you don't want me to remain mute, that is moot.

Hard to tell much from the pictures, but does look like there's some potential there. I'm currently gathering parts for a ratrod and, so far, have a '28 A, a '27 T and an unknown year Star. Plan is to build a roadster pickup, but, I've still got a lot of parts gathering to go before I actually start building.
