you know. i never thought about it that what ssandman said. but i believe if you can control your foot on the gas pedal and not FLOOR it at the stop light till you get on the move and then give it a lil bit more power you should be fine. you just gotta learn how to handle the car and get the right tires.

IMHO i think the idea of 700 RWHP is to say it for the bragging Rights. when i get to that point or even near it i wouldnt even DREAM of having a lamborghini or any top end cars. i would already felt the power. being in these car would feel NO different. this is when i'm truly happy.

Default Lt1

Found a good engine builder and also he also told me about a guy who build’s good transmissions and also a good shop where I could get the car tuned in once everything is done. Going to stay with the Lt1 make into a 383 stroker. I could save $2,000 if I stay with my transmissions being built. Going to put a pro charger and Suspension will be added to handle and install 3:73’s.

that TCI looks awsome I just can't justify that 6,000 price tag and I think thats before a TC. I'll tell ya what my car started as a L99 now it has the Aluminum head LT1 out of a 97 camaro and it has 3.73 gears. And I love it people don't expect it. and i spent 700 for the lt1 and like a 100 for the rear end and 200 for posi unit w/ 3.73's (had the install kit as well). thats a 1,000 and it's a whole lot faster even with a slipping trans. broke loose getting on the freeway the other day. don't get me wrong it ain't no 700hp car nor even 350hp but its a whole lot faster and a $#!+ load more fun

keep inmind the .667 6th also has a 4.xxx 1st gear. Compared to a 4L60/E/700R4 at 3.06 you have a lot more gearfor the launch. Just ballparking here, but a 6L80/90 with a 3.08 axle (~12:1overallratio) is about the same in1st as a 4L60e with 4.10's... (~12:1 overall).

putting 4.88's in the axle with a 6L would be like running the car in 4-Lo... theoretically speaking..
Something to think about..
Not sure what the 1st through 1:1 ratio gear spread is like on the 6L, but that's why I was saying if it had a 1st through 3rd ratio like a TH400 it would be great (which I know it doesn't, but just sayin). The added gears for 1/4 mile racing from first to 1:1 ratio seems to me like it would just cause you to spend more time shifting and not moving. Kind of like gear vendors units, you really don't see many guys actually getting a gain in the 1/4 by using the gear splitter function, they mainly use it for the final OD. So what I am saying is, the 6l would be great if it had a turbo 400 like spread, then just have two or threeOD's above 1:1 with the .667 final drive so you can run a steep gear for a big cammed/big tired car and still be able to drive it to and from the track. I feel like MOST impalas on this board with built motors, even ones without huge cams/huge tires could make use of a 4.10 or maybe even a 4.30 but most of us can't handle that on the highway with the height of the street tires we run.
