95 impala used car no history 140k
running fine except for a slow engage when shifting to reverse
Take it over to have an oil change & trans purge
Runs fine, 20 mile ride home, reverse lag still there but not horrible, shut it off for 1 hr.
Go back out start up, drive 3 miles & stop to pick up baseball equipment, never shut it off but idle is high when put in park. Guesstimate of 1500 RPM maybe more.
Back it up (tranny bangs into R high line pressure) put it in OD (same bang) & it doesnt want to shift out of 1st (20mph) let off, back on doesnt change.
Coaching the game so I HAVE to go on.
Play with it off & on take back roads etc doesnt want to shift.
Shut it off for 2 hrs. Get back in no change.
Limping home & say f-it jump on the throttle & it shifts.
Went into 2nd & 3rd got home.
This AM same high idle.
No code reader here. Can see new TPS, ECT no idea yet what else has been done.
Car been on the road for 1 day & as I said I have no history on this car.
I know this is noobish but anyone recognize this please let me know.

TPS feels like it has a return spring internally.
Mine had let go & traveled freely so must not of been sending correct voltage.
Replaced TPS & done.
Because I had just messed with the transmission I was thinking the worst.
Also I have a 95 (189K) & 96 (27K) with OEM TPS so I had no clue what happens when they go.

BTW how do you guys measure the voltage there? (or do you rely on the resistance?)
I hate comprimising the insulation, but I guess its there or at the ECU
