Good Luck, Greg
Thanks. Yes, I have owned that Grand Ville for a long time. About 10 years and it was my daily driver for about 4 years. I never had a moments trouble out of it until the original power steering pump hose started leaking on it. I parked it for awhile, then replaced the hose, but it really the car wasnt fuel efficient enough for me to continue to drive it daily and the A/C didnt work, so I stopped driving it and havent driven it in over a year. I start it every couple of months or so. This spring I plan on getting her out again. All of the power windows even still work on her. I am having a heck of a time finding new weather strip for the doors though, especially the ones that attach to the rear windows that go up against the back of the front door glass.

Very nice car! I wish mine was that clean when i got it. They seem to be hard to find with all the plastic trim on the chrome lol. Hopefully that oil leak is something simple because you have yourself a nice car, and the low oil light is definatly the sensor my dads lt1 camaro had the same problem.

Got to love the Fleetwood interior~~!

Has the same wheel and redio as my '92 Eldo.

These are the cream puff B Body... And I have seen maybe one or two out here go to the other end of the spectrum and build a beast of a car with handling and power that makes you smile..

She is all Cadillac.. and most definately the last and best rear drive one at that; since the rebirth of the XTS flagship is going to be all wheel drive or front wheel at the very least.

I just did oil cooler lines and valve cover gaskets on my Impala.. they get old and things tend to drip.. Nice ride man

Awesome ride man! seeing this car really drove the point home for me and makes me want a fleetwoody bad... I currently have a 94 caprice classic LS but the fleetwood is just so much better for reasons I cannot describe haha. Good car and can't wait to see what you do to her.

Default RE: The Pontiac Grand Ville...

You may consider joining the Pontiac Oakland Club International for your Grand Ville. I've found it a good source for leads and parts since 1986. Their web site seems to be experiencing issues this morning but the page on their publication, Smoke Signals, is http://pontiacoaklandclub.wordpress.com/ and it contains all the information on the club, contact numbers and links to the http://poci.org home page as well. I could not tell if you have a two or four door. The four door hardtops are very difficult to find rubber pieces for. Another forum member spoke with me yesterday about an SS piece and I suggested Steele Rubber in NC. They have been a good source in the past for my old Pontiacs' rubber bits. I've not checked lately for newer additions to their catalog. Try http://www.steelerubber.com/ and see what they may have. I trust your Gran Ville has the 455 if it's too expensive to drive.

Welcome to the Fleetwood group. It appears your radio is the top end CD and cassette one. I've the same interior in my '96. It is great you got a rust free SOUTHERN car! Enjoy it well...

Thanks for the replies. Well I dropped it off at the repair shop I use Thursday night and went this evening (Friday) and picked it up. I paid the lady, went home and my dad took me back to get it. I looked at the ticket when I got home and they did indeed replace the oil filter adapter gasket. I had placed a note in the car, stating to check all leaks (and stated I thought the oil was leaking by the oil filter and also an oil cooler line from the engine), change the oil (which I had in the back seat) and check out all steering components (which checked out OK).

Anyway got home, pop the hood and the oil cooler line hadnt been repaired or replaced. Its still dripping, then I look under car and its still dripping in the same spot that it was. Not as bad, but still leaking, so thats a disappointment, so I basically paid $92 for an oil change and I supplied the oil! I am hoping that continued leak under the filter area is just some run off where the thing was leaking before, but I would think they would have wiped that off and started the car to make sure it wasnt leaking. I dont know, I was hoping to have all of these leaks stopped.

BTW, they did change the oil and it tripped the "low oil level" light again, but it is full. The PO also said he never could get the change oil soon light to go off, even following the procedure, but he may not have done it correctly. I dont have an owners manual, but I will try to find out the procedure to see if I can figure it out.

Anyway, here are some pics.... this is the leaking hose coming from the radiator.... Note its leaking there where the metal connects it or something... you can actually see where its dripped since I parked it...

other side of the radiator, its leaking where it connects to the radiator...

Still dripping underneath, but not as bad as it was.... I am hoping its just the final drips of what was leaking before the new gasket. I only drove the car home about 6 miles. For $92.00, I would expect no leaks. lol.

All I can guess with these leaks with this car only having 118K miles is that it has set for awhile and these seals and hoses have gave out. My Lincoln is 2 years newer, but has almost 200K amd havent seen any leaks. Just wish I could get this Caddy up to par here pretty soon.

Thanks! I love the Caprice Classics, especially the 1993-94 LS trim models.

Yep, she has the 455 4bbl. Runs like a champ even after nearly 40 years and never been rebuilt. The car will actually turn 40 this August, as it was built in August of 1972. It was a very early 1973 model. Thanks for those links, I will check them out. I plan on doing some work on her this year.

I did drive the car today to town a couple of times and I really love this car. Today though, I didnt see any leaks from that oil filter area. I am hoping it was just some residue that was still dripping last night. They didnt fix the leaking oil cooler hose of course, but I may buy one of those and replace it myself. The other line, I will have to study on that some. I may take it back, or another shop and tell them I want the leaks fix at any cost. I dont like leaks.

Well the car did fine today. I really love it. Only a couple of notes of interest to mention of concern and this is nitpicking, is that I am still getting a clicking from the steering wheel when I turn it. You can actually feel it through the steering wheel when it makes the sound. It sounds like its coming from the hub of the wheel. I thought perhaps the wheel pad was loose (though it dont feel like it), so I stuck a screwdriver back there to see if I could tighten any of the screws on the back of the pad, but when I would push in on the screw to turn it, it would sound the horn, I guess it was making the horn contact with the front part of the pad. I am hoping I didnt mess something up. The horn still worked though.

Also, when coming out or going my driveway, between 8 mph to about 10 mph, the speedometer goes bezerk. It will go to 17, 32, 25, 14, 28, 17, 32, 15, then when I drop to about 5mph it goes back to normal. Just seems like that 8-10mph range makes it go nuts. ????

Lastly, it happened three times today and I mentioned this happening during my test drive, but when I make a right turn, pulling out from a stop and start to accelerate, the accelerator for a moment wants to "kick up" on me, as if the traction assist is activating for a split second, but the roads are dry and I am only lightly accelerating.

Finally, I got the front side marker lights changed and wow, those lenses are a pain to get back in place. Also, a little plastic washer falls out and I dont know how in the heck someone is supposed to stick those back in and hold in place while trying to fight the lens back in place. I had a 1991 Lexus LS400 a couple of years ago, same similiar setup to change the front side marker lights and was a pain to get in place.

All in all, only minor things and I really love this car. Funny thing, it makes my Town Car feel like a much smaller car. lol. I can say the Fleetwood rides much better than the Town Car, but the handling isnt as nimble, but thats fine with me.
