Do I need to pull the pump back off? Is this the end? On the pump drive BTW
please say its ok,I don't want to pull it apart again.

pull it off and install the o-rings. It can be a pain but Id do it if I were you.

I just did a water pump replacement and it seems those o rings are very durable. whats year is your impala? I wouldnt sweat it.

Well,I think I am going to wait a.week or two as I have to tear it down again to convert to electric fans and change opti/wires,looks like all it does is keep out dirt?
Also need to decide if I want to keep the ac pump as that is squeaking now of course.

youre supposed to grease the coupler splines on reassembly and the o-rings keep the grease in and moisture out.
without the grease or in high moisture areas the coupler rusts to the splines.

You do need to replace the o-rings and you should pack the shaft connector with wheel bearing grease.
