Hi everyone, just installed a Fuel Pressure Gauge and I wanted to find out what I want to see? Is there a range that is within spec? Thanks for any help.

FSM spec is 41-47lbs with key on engine off. I usually see pressures of 38-40lbs at idle on most stock LT1s I've owned. It should jump up 5lbs or so if you pull the vacuum line of the regulator.

Rebuilt trans at 308,000 (lasted pretty long I think); new radiator 330,000 (they said it literally disintegrated when they took it off); SS better last at least that long

I use,and recommend AutoMeter full sweep electric in the cabin. I also have a liquid filled Pro-Comp under the hood. My fuel lines are AN so I can tap in anywhere. If you're using the fuel rail, I recommend running a braided hose to the sender and/or gauge. Not attaching anything else to fuel rail itself on an ongoing basis. Some adjustable fuel pressure regulators also have a port for this purpose.

I was thinking about getting an under-hood fuel gauge as well. Would it be a problem to hook up a fuel line to the fuel rail and run the fuel gauge somewhere else? I couldn't see it being a bad thing since no real weight is getting put on the fuel rail, just the weight of the hose going to the fuel gauge...

Hose is OK if you do not have other access to fuel line. If you have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator,it may have a plugged port for this purpose.

I just have the stock FPR, where else can you access the fuel line besides the fuel rail by the FPR?

If the fuel rail is equipped with an adapter to AN hose/fittings. The need for a gauge usually accompanies an adjustable regulator. The gauge is needed to make adjustments properly. A gauge would only be needed periodically to verify proper function of a non adjustable regulator.

Yeah I understand that, but it's nice to have.
