I'm not saying use rocks and bolts I'm saying that's what iv heard people doing besides boiling it. I just dropped mine today and just the first initial pour of bad gas (cars been sitting two years) had a STAGGERING amount of crap in it like it was NASTY. Even covered my pavement porch in deposits after that. All I did was half fill it up with water and me and a friend went up and down on each side sloshing it around real good. Syphoned the rest out and let it all evaporate dry. Also new pump, strainer and wiring. I don't think its too hard to drop and replace the tank. Took me a while but wasn't too difficult I used 2 jacks to push the straps back in place. I did rear most bolts first, slid tank in then raised with jacks and bolted it in.

I think Hamilton Chevrolet still has some. RockAuto has the Delphi CZ2003 for $370,and the AC Delco 1104032 (re-man) for $404.

The term "re-man" is short for re-manufacture. Meaning the piece is gone through,in this case by it's original manufacturer AC Delco. You may be confusing this with the term "re-pop" short for reproduced. Often times inexpensive copies of the original. Good to know the difference, because those are floating around too. Original brand new Delco opti-spark units are becoming very difficult to find. That's not to say they don't exist. AC Delco's "re-man" comes with a warranty, and probably a new "Mitubushi" optical sensor. That is the heart of the opti,as well as the part all the others lack. So,there really isn't much choice in the matter. I don't know much about the Delphi, compared to the Delco. Seems like they would be the same, but at the same time they aren't. I'd still prefer one to a cardone,or some AutoZone nonsense.

You could still try to get a new AC Delco from Hamilton Chevy in Michigan. You don't know for certain, the Accel may have more life left. That job needs planned, because a lot of things can get fixed at the same time. Waterpump? convert it to electric? many do. Seals? read up, learn to do them right. Because all that stuff has to come back off to re-do. Goes for the opti also. Get a FSM (factory service manual) they're worth every dime.

Looks like I'm a little late to the party but just noticed someone linked you to my GRAIL site. I just replaced my plugs and wires and went with these. So far I have been very happy.

Part # 32153 MSD

I went with the NGK spark plugs - Part #3403 NGK

As mentioned, start with Qalo's SS handbook, print it off and read up.
Also on the site is "How to Tune up an Impala" is a nice starting point too. It's got some stuff that you don't need to start out with (Like headers and hi-flow cats) but it's a nice starting point to get you thinking about things.

I wouldn't worry about the fuel pump until it starts acting up. Just make try to not make it a habit to run your car under a 1/4 of a tank because the pump is in the tank and the gas cools it. Seems like people have pump problems after they run out of gas, or constantly drive with little to no gas in the tank.

100% agree. I had to take my waterpump off 2 times... FSM will save you a lot of time and fustration. This forums pretty good about helping you out too, just make sure you SEARCH first. That will save you some grief from the older members.
