Thumbs up

Good find.
I was looking for some a while ago as spares, and I know OG's are hard to come by.

The originals look to be Injection Molded, then Chrome Plated Plastic, not plated Brass like the one on the eBay site. Brass is heavy, there would likely be issues with them vibrating off I'd think. I'm looking at 2 original NEW Left Hand sides right now sitting on my desk from my pile of SS Stuff. They came with the double sided tape already on them. Just a few ounces a peice.

Jan Jones head of PR at the Dallas Plant gave them to me as a present at the third trip to the factory (1st was watching the Last Impala roll off the line to Pinky Randall) the year after they converted over to doing Tahoes.

Here's a few quick pics:

Actually now that I think about it I wonder if these are for a Center Console instead.

I bought some of these brass ones when I painted my car and they are very nice quality pieces.

I'm not saying they are not. I'm sure they look great. But there's a reason all the early cars in the 60's and even earlier that had metal emblems had at least 2 or more studs, clips or nuts holding them onto the vehicle. And then there's that 1% out there that want "original" in every aspect of the word. I also see other ebay ads for OEM logos for the SS and then you see the new short legged ones off the newer Impalas...

Good double sided tape will hold them on fine. Many of us on here have put the old cross flags on the front fenders with double sided tape and ground off the studs on the backside. Never had any problems with them vibrating off.

The crossed flags are pot metal, maybe even aluminum, not Brass, Nickel and Chrome. They are a lot lighter and smaller, so not as much mass. I'd make sure to use strong 3M double sided tape not some cheap knock off and at least you've done all you can do.

I believe the good 3m tape is the answer to whatever emblem you want to put on your car.
