Default Lowering front end

Like some on the board, my front end sits higher than my rear end does. I'd like to go with a set of Eibach lowering springs but I'm considering cutting one coil from the front springs first. I've had luck doing this on some vehicles in the past but not always. Has anyone removed just one round from the front coils? And if so, what was the outcome?

*******never mind, I searched some more and found my answer*******

It depends how much drop you want. Do not cut an entire coil if you only want about 1.5" drop which is the maximum that an Eibach spring will drop each front side. A full coil cut would drop it about 2.25". Go with 3/4 of a coil for about 1.5" drop from stock spring. There is guess work involved, but better to be not enough than too much. You will save a lot of money by continuing to use your stocks, and you won't have those extra unsightly stocks and rear Eibachs laying around. You are gonna have to take the springs out either way. Might as well try the cut before buying new ones. You will probably need to do the cut/drop job a couple times to get it just where you want it unless you are really lucky and get it right the first time. In my opinion, eibachs don't drop the front enough, so I had to take them out again anyways to cut them for more drop. A PIA, but worth it in the result.

Good info, thanks! Here is how the car sits now. I think I'll try 3/4 on the stock spring. Mine seems to sit a little higher in the front than most do:

If your cars a 94 its gonna sit higher than others. From what Ive read the 95 & 96s are lower. Also remember when you cut the coils the ride might be a tad stiffer.

That's correct it will definitely be stiffer, but if you're going to cut 3/4 coil off, it's going to lower the front about 1.5 inches

After seeing the picture of my car, would you go 1/2 a coil or 3/4? I would like for the front to be a little lower than the rear. I have no problem with a firm ride just so it doesn't bounce like some cars do when the springs have been cut. Does cutting 1/2 or 3/4 of a coil leave plenty of suspension travel?

Your drop at the wheel will be about twice the amount you shorten the spring's free height. I say about as it will be a little less because the spring gets stiffer too.

So say it measures about 15 inches out of the car, if you cut it to be 14.5 inches, then the drop at the wheel will be about 1 inch.

I'd make that my first cut, then if it's still a little too high, you can always go a little more.

I agree, it's better to try the 1/2" coil cut first, put it back and see how you like it. It's better to not go far enough then to go too far and have to buy brand new springs.
