Angry SpeedoMeter Acting Up

Im not sure if I'm in the right section Hopefully I Am. This Weekend I started driving my 96 SS and Know this that the speedometer was jumping between the 40 mph and the 20 mph and at one point hit a small bump and it drop to 0 mph and the car wouldn't accelarate, Had to pull over the emergency area on freeway, Then take off like nothing happen. Then as I'm driving I know this that every time I hit a small pothole or the car goes up and down from a depression on freeway the cluster drops from 60 or 70 mph to 40 mph. I drove the car 40 miles to my house like that, And It seems once on high speeds around 70 the car runs fine. Could it be my VSS? Or is it the cluster going bad? Car just broke 100 KKK mark with alot maintance work done by prevuios owner (Mechanic). Any Help will be highly appreciated thanks .... Al

Your description indicates something in the ignition system, and the speedo is just a symptom. The fact that you could not accellerate, is the symptom you need to look at.

Hi there I Kind of Figure that You Be The first one To Answer to this Thread, And I thank U For The reply, But maybe I described the issue wrong the car will accellarate but it feels like the tranny isn't going cause the speedometer is at 0 miles And When at 60 or so the tranny doesnt seem to lock up . Im puting the car on the lift in the morning to check for any issues with vss or any conections underneath the car, For some reason I'm leaning towards a bad vss or a loose conection somewhere under the car. I thank u again Fred, God Bless
