Power Steering Pump -- STAFTED

napa sells a hydraulic hose that size altho its only rated to 200'F and is red.
I figure on buying a couple of those replacement hoses if they come available.

I use/recommend Aeroquip "socketless" hose AN-10. Available in blue,or black. It's max. rated temperature is 300 degrees.

Just heard back from Turn one Steering.
Since no new pumps, or new internals, are available. I would have to get one from autozone, (or whereever), and he can go through the pump.

But the only thing he would guarantee is the front seal.

So all the shafts, including mine that snapped, and every rebuilt pump, comes with a ~20 year old shaft.

So the quality issue, is an issue of well used parts.

Not sure about your area, but aren't the Autozone pumps all lifetime warranty? Around here, Autozone, O'reilly's, Advance Auto and Napa only offer a lifetime warranty remanufactured (most of which are A-1 Cardone) pump.

The more I find out about this, the more I believe the autozone is the way to go. (with the life time warranty)

My GM dealer cannot get the pump, says GM part # DISCONTINED. Maybe he didn't look under AC-delco.

But considering there are no new parts, and no new pumps, every rebuilder is using 20 year old parts. So every shaft, including mine that snapped in 1/2, has 10 zillion miles on it.

Even if I send out a rebuilt pump to a profesional, like TURN ONE. He says there's not much he can do with it. So why buy AC delco with a 1 year warranty, when autozone is a lifer ......

I went thru 3 cardone lifetime pumps from o'reallys since summer of last year, one lasted half a year and the other two noisy out of the box.
I picked up a delco pump off of amazon this spring and its been quiet so far.

Anyone who has ever replaced the PS pump before knows it can be a pita, undo the hoses, remove and press on the pulley, etc. Based on that and regardless of warranty length, I would opt for the AC Delco unit.

Just not a job I would want to do again in a year or so. Here is a link to one at Rockauto for a good price. The dura last unit a AZ is only $10 cheaper.

Since the failed pump came from AutoZone. Why not take it back,and get another "free" one. I wouldn't put that stuff on my car. It's your time,and your dime.
