I was driving home yesterday & the Philly radio guy was giving Torts a hard time for being a jackass...that's when I had a revelation about the guy.

I've never been to NY, but I hear it's a tough town. Torts' act seems to keep the attention on him and off the players and I bet they love that.

Another Redden goal last night... not too shabby. Definitely something we need more of, goals from the blue line. Actually had 2 more from the blue line last night as well (Pietrangelo and Jackman).

Fighting in the NHL is such bull****. It's not who's a better fighter. It's not who's tougher. It's who's better at grabbing the other guys jersey while keeping your own hand free to land more punches. Totally sucks to watch. It's like watching 2 bears dancing a waltz.

I have fought a guy on the ice, and this is what I hate about it. Stand there and duke it out. Punching another guy in the helmet is also BS as you noted. I think Joey Kocur or Bob Probert used to yank their jersey off to fight so no one could grab them but the NHL made that illegal. Imagine that, they made a rule about what you could wear to a fight!

A good buddy of mine was a semi-successful enforcer in the NHL. Funny thing is, he never had a fight in his life off of skates. I swear.

Great guy, typical Canuck, great family, we drank a lot of Labatt's Blue together, eh. I've never seen him lose his temper in real life, even on the golf course. It's all a sham in the NHL, you do it to fire up the team but there is very rarely 'real' animosity in those fights unless there was an on-ice incident or some old bad blood. In general they are just doing their jobs. You know like when Prust would get put on the #1 line with Richards and Gaborik. Gee, I wonder what the coach wants me to do out here? Most of them grew up playing against each other in juniors and have a lot of respect for each other, often it's 'just business'.
