I put the maf inline and still the same reaction from the car. I have been told it could be the crankshaft sensor or the car is not getting enough juice from the battery (never heard of this but I'll try anything at this point). If anyone can tell me if they had problems with the crankshaft sensor before let me know what happened. I actually got the car from my girlfriend's mom. It belonged to her husband who passed away and she gave it to me cause she knew I would take care of it. I know a couple of oneals from Hammond so if u ever come in town let me know maybe we could get together and again thanks for all the help fellow b-body's.

So MAF is re-installed, plugged in, and aligned the correct way?
Are you getting any CEL or have you had the car scanned for codes since re-plugging the MAF?

I would hesitate to start replacing parts off of generic guesses people give you. I would imagine a OBD-II system would be giving codes on a no-start condition?

I have everything plugged up, facing the right direction, and no cel! But still no start. I took off the cps and it had oil in the connector and the metal contact was scarred bad and burn spots on it. Has anyone ever had problems with the cps and if so what happened when it malfunctioned?

CPS ? Do you mean the Optispark? Or do you mean TPS (throttle)? Other than the Optispark, I didn't even know a crankshaft position sensor existed on the LT1.

The ECM or PCM owns ignition. The car can start a bit limp, but within a few seconds, if the PCM detects hooey, it'll shut down.

The scenario you describe sounds a lot like when you forget to put the hockey puck in the hole where home plate goes when working with homeplate removed (too much unaccounted for air). The car will start and run for 5 seconds and then shut off. Very similar.

here are some pics of how i have the intake setup after finding a couple parts arounds. Its not the prettiest but itll do to keep the maf sensor in place.

Ill try to take a pic of where the crankshaft position senor is (i think) and a pic of the sensor itself. Another thing is when i start the car it has a loud whistle as if its a big vacuum leak.

From MAF to coupling look good, from coupling to K&N tube look barely connected and would fall apart if you hit a bump ???
It should start, but i wouldn't drive it like that....

spray a shot of carb cleaner(alcohol) in the TB and see if it starts and runs for a couple seconds, it's very flammable stuff. could point to fuel issue. Did you put a gauge on schrader valve to check proper fuel pressure ?
EDIT: just reread post #1 maybe just double check Fuel pressure is still good ?

Crank position sensor, bottom of the timing cover, pass. side. 96 only. No signal from it, no run. But it should set a code. Also IIRC there is the Oil pressure sensor & oil level sensor that I THINK will kill the engine if no signal is seen by the PCM.
