Default Transmission Cooler

Can I run just the stock external cooler and bypass the internal radiator cooler?

I'm sorting out some issues with possibly putting the drivetrain in a '63 C-10 spending as little as necessary. I have 2 external radiators I could gang together if more than 1 isn't enough. The truck doesn't tow. If I start to tow with it I'll re-visit this issue.

Nevermind, google shows that this is probably a really bad idea. So I will have to figure out soome sort of radiator mod type deal. Hmmm... The cost column is getting larger. (Like Leon.)

Why not?
My car is like that right now.
Yes the radiator part will help it cool more because the amount of energy that can be taken out from the fluid to fluid, but it would still work fine.

Hmmm. For my side project my 2 big hurdles are cooling everything and fuel. If this is truely an acceptible solution for now I think I can make the rest of the cooling work by playing with the hoses for the rest.

I have always run just the external cooler unless I drive it in winter, never had a problem.

I dont like the radiator trans cooler... if they fail, coolant gets in the transmission and thats never a good thing... and they do tend to fail more often than regular hoses to an external cooler.

I've failed the internal before. The mixture of water and trans fluid was one of the reason I now have a T-56. No external cooling. So it sounds like I should be ok with 1 stock trans cooler on a light then B-Body vehicle. Sweet. And thanks to google and the guy's who rockcrawl 5.0 powered bronco's I now have figured out how to run the efi with stock fuel truck tank and a fairly inexpensive fuel pump out of a F-150.
