Me and my younger brother were at the pool that day with our babysitter when the local new crew showed up (fox news). I was 11 and my little brother was 9. It was great, I got to dive into the pool for the camera. They told us we would be on the news that night. When you are 11, being on the local news is like winning the lottery. I was on top of the world.

When we got back home the lights were off. I thought it was just a blown fuse. To my horror flicking the fusebox didn't work. The power was out and the footage was lost forever. I'm not ashamed to say that I cried for half an hour. I was completely devastated and had trouble falling asleep that night.

I vowed I would never forget that day, and nine years later I still remember it.

in NYC and LI we had no power for almost two days. It was hot and humid! The worst part was the arrogant people in the area were out. The car wrecks are SO bad. When the light is dead, Don't be a slob and go 70mph through it in a 45. STOP and use the intersection like a stop sign! WTF!!

Anyway The only place open that had electric was carvel some miles away.

With that said, You have to be prepared for a disaster at any moment. I am more prepared that in the past, but still, alot of improvement could be done. I am creative and learned how to rig stuff up with age, so even with no electric I can probably rig up some stuff and get it to run for a bit. (Hoarding big time) Even the simplest things like filling your vehicles fuel tank ON YOUR WAY HOME + Having some fuel containers is a big deal. Or stocking potable water and some food. So many people live with almost nothing. If the supply line gets cut, They won't have a thing.
