Default Digital Cluster flickering

I have just recently purchased a 94 impala and since have had some problems with the cluster. The odometer will just all over the place from the true mileage all the way up to 900,000 miles. The car came from florida and i was thinking that maybe this problem had something to do with an altitude change possibly? Does anyone have any input?

Its a common problem with these cars. Mine does it too. It's time to buy a new cluster, or live with it.. or upgrade to a camaro cluster.. but it's not cheap

"It's time to buy a new cluster, or live with it."

Or you could refer to the thread above that describes how to fix the problem, if the sticky was working. Someone probably has the info and will post it. It's not difficult, costs $0. and is worth a try. Good luck.

That thread describes how to fix a flickering cluster, not a cluster that doesn't display the correct mileage.

And the fix for the flickering cluster is temporary at best.

Really it's a popular mod I'm sure plenty of people will chime in on this and I hope they do cause I'm having problems with my digital cluster also. I believe it's a bit of work but can be done. I think I remember someone saying it was easier to do one out a camaro than a 96 impala. That is if you want analog gauges.

Well I have a 96 with the analog gauges and the odometer was flickering, so I tried to fix it and broke it for good.

I looked up the camaro cluster on ebay and that thing looks nice, can someone please put a write up?

I dont mind a lot of work but I dont wana spend hundreds to get it to work right.

My mileage will work I would say about 70 percent of the time. The other 30 it will flicker to different ammounts of miles or it will not work at all including the spedometer? Is this gonna need a new cluster or could it possibly be fixed?
