to answer some of the questions and comments

1. IMO, there is zero chance of noise being injected into spekaer cables. and most of hte installers i know dont run spekaer cables seprate from power. the reasoning is relatively simple. is your power cable is somehow able to inject noise through the VERY high signal voltage carried by speaker wires, then even if you ran the rca cables on the other side of hte car, it wont matter, becuase the EMR will easily penetrate the low voltage RCA cables and inject noise into them despite the distance its one of those things that if people were really anal about it, sure, you can say running spekaer wires away from power is better, however, in the real world, it makes zero difference, and you can also argue that by running spekaer wires on one side, you have to make one side of the wires longer than the other, whcih cuases a micro differnece in impedance, whcih can cause difference in sonic output? again, one of those things that really doesnt make a difference in sound.

keep in mind that the IASCA rulebook is more than anal about things, and even it, doesnt suggest you run speaker wires separate from power

2. not usre how the idmax became known as a pure SQ sub or a cheap one at that hehe.

the idmax is a direct competitor to the jl w7, in an other wise identical situation, IMO, the idmax is pretty much just as loud as a w7 of equal size, IMO goes deeper in a smaller enclosure, and to my yeras, sounds a little better. its an extremely loud and beefy sub. as far as pure SQ subs go, its by no means a pure SQ sub, its a little "beefy" and not as "dry" sounding as some of hte more strict SQ subs i use, but for an all around driver that can excel at a really wide range of genres...i think the idmax is among the best.

again, true 1000 watt RMS power handling, massive output, the ability to go well into the subsonic range, and at over $500 per driver retail, this is a pretty serious sub guys

3. unfortunatly, i realy cannot do GPs for pillars, for two reasons. one is that i work by myself, one car after another. and really, there is so little time for me to do side projects. if i took some of these projects one, it could be months before yo uguys get it back. i dont have a second pair of hands, and as soon sa one car leaves, the next one rolls in, and usually, its lined up for about 5-7 months in advance

but the more relevant reason is that in order to do a pillars, i need an impala or caprice here. i use the car, and sit in the seats, when i aim the tweeters. on this car for example, i probably spend a good 1.5 hours aiming and reaiming the tweeters...and not having an impala myself, i really dont see how i can do it.

sorry...

any other questions, just let me know

Bing

Thanks for replying. I understand about the inability to do a GP with the A pillars. I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. The worst you could have said was no. Secondly, you're completely right about the speaker wire and the power wire. I guess it's just something I'm anal about, but dammit, I added some micro-impedance to my front left speaker by making the wire about 10 feet or so longer than the right front speaker. Anyways, that was a super clean Impala. My Caprice had really low miles like that when I got it: 16,8xx. Now it's up to 41,xxx. That's still low for a 94. My panels are in decent shape; I do have one broken clip on the driver's side panel. They give me a very minimal buzz with certain frequencies coming from my front doors. Most of the buzzing I have found to come from the locks. The plastic chrome separates from the black plastic and causes a buzz. I put mine back together with 3M trim molding tape. I haven't had any problems since. My biggest complaint about buzzing would have to be the rear seat belts. I get a buzz from the driver's side rear seat belt that I never had before I installed a system in my car. I don't know how to get rid of it. It's somewhere within the retraction mechanism, I would assume.

Great job on that install. I recently registered in DIYMA and I've seen some of your other masterpieces on there. Keep up the good work.

well, if its inside a mechanism, there is nothing you can do really...thats the unfortunate truth...moving parts, can generate noise, but you cant do anyhting about it.

this car really was lucky...i thnk beucase its never been taken apart

btw, i gotta get hte owner on here, i am sure hes an member
