Default how do you find year of motor

i just bought a sb 350 and i need to know what yr is the motor so i can get parts in future....they guy said he bought from somebody else and didnt remember what he said but he said it was a 90s motor so anything to look for would be great

Factory roller cam provisions, one piece rear main seal, etc.

Check the casting number (driver's side at the back) at mortec.com

i came up with
14093638...350...87-95...2 or 4...Roller or flat tappet cam, one-piece rear seal

just dont know exactly what to place it in when i go to auto store to get misc parts

P.S. i would like to paint it can anybody give me some reviews on different paints if cracked, peeling, etc.

i used this: http://www.duplicolor.com/products/engine.html on my valve covers and intake manifold, did a great job and very durable. No cracks, flaking, etc after 2 years and plenty of heat cycles, fuel leaked on it, etc...
