I do most of it with TunerPro for tuning.

But if I just need a ScanTool I've been real happy with my AutoXray 7000. Does all cars OBDI and OBDII for about $350.

so this software will allow me to see IAC counts and other sensor information? im looking for a scan tool that checks the sensors and detects when they are bad and when the are out of range, so they can be adjusted, like the TPS and IAC...

I'm not sure. Go to the software web site and read.

I didn't know you could adjust a TPS.

its not really adjusting a tps, more than getting the required voltage set to where it needs to be..i know other sensors have parameters they operate within, but when they start to get old, they dont work as well..the IAC i need to be able to view the "counts" to properly set my idle speed, to not set a code.

Thumbs down

Elm327 devices are great for newer cars with enhanced operating systems. Now for the kicker, '96 only has about 45 fields that are supported by this device. Tps, iac and 02 readings are not among them. Even HPT tuners scanner does not detect the fields you are looking to read. The scanner is not the limiting factor, it is the pcm operating system.

As far as a hand held scanner for majority of the cars, the genisys is by far my favorite and its cheaper than almost everything else. At our school we had brand new snap-on units that hadnt even come out yet and there was way too much going on and it took FOREVER to turn it on and shut it down let alone it was $13,000.

Cliff this is what I tried to explain to you when you came to Lab and why I prefer obd1 for LT1's.

And the reason I switch the obd2 out with the obd1 to run a diagnosis on your caprice.

You can come by and I can turn the codes off for you no problem (cost you a case Bud light bottles)
or just send it back to Ed wright and wait for-wait for it- wait for it-

Ok Gene, you have compelled me to finally get my very first app for the fancy new dual sim quad band gingerbread Samsung I got a few months ago. Thanks, for the money it'll sure be worth the study to learn and use it. I'll have to wait til I'm back where they sell American stuff though.
