Im selling my car. Overall the exterior is in good shape. Its got a couple dings here and there but the paint is still glossy. They reason Im wanting to paint it is because, unknown to me when I bought the car, the previous owner had work done on the drivers side rear quarter panel. Its not that big of a spot but the painter user a thin about of bondo and now its cracking out. It looks terrible. Also both bumpers are spider webbed. Other than that...the car is decent. But if he fixes these two things, it will look different than the paint that is left on there. So therefore should I paint the whole car, or should I just leave it and try to sell it as is?
This is an original car with only 76000 miles on it. Interior is mint so that is not an issue. The exterior is my only problem. |

I wouldn't,let the new owner decide what to do. Knock a couple hundred off the price if it makes you feel better. The repair you described can be 1000+ real easy.

+1. You will never recover the money spent. There are good shops that can blend really well. I wouldnt mess with it

I wouldnt paint it (unless you got a buddy who can give you a great deal). Odds are you'll never get your money back.
Side note, you mentioned that the previous owner had put a little Bondo in the qtr and its cracking out. Just so you know (in case you didn't). Bondo isn't bad and it doesn't always crack out. It will last forever if its done properly. I'd say 99% of the show cars in the world have a fair amount of Bondo in them.

Its a 1995 Impala SS with 76000 miles. All stock except for CD player and speakers. The inside is mint except for dirty carpet. The exterior needs TLC. Paint still shiny and glossy just has a couple places on it that needs atention. Both bumpers are spiderwebbed and the drivers rear quarter has bondo cracking out on it. The previous owner unknown to me had work done on it. Looks like a softball size dent that he beat out from the inside then layered it with a thin coat of bondo. Its in Charleston, WV, but for the right price Ill deliver it in a 4 hour radius.

I was going to start about 8500. This is negotiable. I have a price that i cannot go below. After searching the web I think thats a good starting point. Ive seen cars with 100000 plus go for 8000-9000. The only thing this car needs is a paint job and it would be a mint SS.
