Body Bushing Information Thread

Having recently done an exhaustive search both before and after the crash here is what I have been able to salvage:

First of all it is widely known that Civilian Caprices and Impala SS's did not come with the first 3 LOWER body bushing on each side, instead they used a large metal washer. 9C1's came with all the lower bushings as well as better upper bushings in some or all of the positions (still not entirely clear on that).

The bushings at the very front of the car under the radiator support are not considered body bushings/mounts or body cushions (as GM calls them) but rather radiator support bushings.

Part numbers for 9C1 UPPER bushings are as follows:

Position #1 Part #348080 Front of the body, Inner most body mount where the firewall and frame meet. Green bushing with yellow stripe.

Position #2 Part #330986 Same area as #1 bushing but this one is the outer most position.

Position #3 Part #348080 This position is below the B-pillar area. This is the same bushing as used in the #1 position. This position uses a shorter bolt than all the other positions, Bolt Part #14085301 (55mm in length silver colored)

Position #4 Part #330942 The position just foward of the rear wheel.

Position #5 Part #488610 Above the rear spring perch on the frame, next to the upper rear shock bolts. This position is unique as there is no bolt holding the bushing in, it just "pops" into a large hole in the frame. There is also no lower bushing in this position. This bushing is discontinued by GM but there is an aftermarket recreation available AFTERMARKET RECREATION AVAILABLE HERE

Position #6 Part #330942 This position is to rear of the rear wheel on the frame rail. Uses the same bushing as #4

Position #7 Part #330942 This is the rearmost body mount position. It is immediately foward of the rear bumper mounting. Again uses the same bushings as #4 and #6

9C1 Body Mount bolts:

All positions EXCEPT #3: Part #3524497 (85mm)

Position #3: Part #14085301 (55mm in length silver colored)

9C1 LOWER Body Bushings:

All Positions EXCEPT #5 which does not have a lower bushing: Part #377801

Part Numbers for CIVILIAN Caprice/Impala SS:

Position #1 Part #3524486 Green colored bushing.

Position #2 Part #3524486 Same bushing as #1

Position #3 Part #10201228

Position #4 Part #3524486 Same as #1 & 2

Position #5 Part #556755 I am not sure if this part # is correct. This bushing mounts in the same way as the #5 bushing on the 9C1, it is not bolted to the frame and there is no lower bushing. It merely "pops" into place. I believe (but not positive) this bushing is also discountinued by GM and may be subsituted with the aftermarket #5 bushing available for the 9C1 (see above)

Position #6 Part #3524486 Again same bushing as #1 ,2 & 4

Position #7 Part #330992 Note: FE2 Suspensions in the 95 and 96 model years possibly used a differant bushing

Civilian Caprice/Impala SS LOWER Bushing Part Numbers:

All Positions Except #5: Part #377801

Civilian Caprice/Impala SS Body Bushing mounting Bolt Part Numbers:

All Positions Except #5: Part #3524497 (85mm)

"Scott Mueller Mod" Info:

Killer Body Mounts - Scott Mueller[url]

The Scott Mueller Mod is intended for civilian Caprices and Impala SS's upper bushings. If one uses these lower bushings with 9C1 uppers you will not be able to properly torque your body mount bolts or possibly crush your upper body bushings in some or all of the positions.

As I currently understand it in order to use these lowers with the 9C1 upper bushings one would have to add a small 1/4" spacer to some or all of the upper spacers.

Scott Mueller Lowers Bushing Part Numbers:

All Positions Except #5 & 7: Part #457915 Pink colored

Position #7: Part #457917 Dark green colored
