Question Paddle or sequential shifter for T56?

Does anyone know where I might be able to find either a paddle or sequential shifter for the T56? I know Aston Martin used a paddle shifted T56 in the Vanquish, but I'd rather not go that route because of the cost and that the system is tied in with other sub systems. Do any of the GT/road race type race cars use them? Thanks for the info.

The only thing that comes to mind is if it was an air shifter, usually paddle shifters are only related to automatics as it would be retarded in my eyes to have a paddle shift and you still have to push the clutch in. Just my two cents. Not sure if the Vanquish would use a T56, maybe 6 speed auto? I don't know. Good luck on the search, I have never heard of one.

I remember a company that had the idea for paddle shifters, don't know what became of it. It was a wierd name like shrifter or something.

Very true!!

The clutchless manual that Ferrari uses also electronically changes the timing and torque curve to make the shifts possible.

Ferrari is fair game. All cars run on the same principals just using different methods to achieve their goals.

For a true shift conversion you should look into using an electric solenoid to depress the clutch a half second before the shifter solenoid engages. That way when you hit the paddle or button or whatever you decide to use it will engage the clutch and then the shift mechanism in sequence.

I see 3 main tricks to this technique. The first trick will be delaying the shift solenoid by the right amount of time to allow for full engagement of the clutch. The second is for the clutch solenoid to release after the shift. The final issue is finding a clutch solenoid that will be strong enough without resorting to hydraulics.

I'd consult someone that knows about solenoids and maybe even someone who could make up a little digital curcuit board to control the order and timing of the solenoids.
