Default Police/Taxi shocks VS. regular

In shopping shocks online, there seems to be a regular version and a police/taxi version of shocks. What's the difference between them? Looking for a slightly firmer shock for my 95 wagon.

The police/taxi shocks tend to be firmer. I have the Monroe Severe Service shocks on a few of my cars, and they are quite a bit firmer than the Monroe Sensatracs. Some have mentioned they have used the police Gaberials at autozone, and liked them.

RAISS, Tri-Y's, Pypes X pipe, Spintech Prostreets, 3000 Edge, 3.73's, Eaton Posi, and the rest of the Bolt-ons. Fried #7 Ring.

And 5 other LT1 B-body's... Is there Rehab for this Sh*t?

I have the Bilstein B-46 1104/0929 on my 91 cars (deleted the auto level on the wagon) and the Monroe SS on the 96.
If you want your ride to be stiffer than stock while still being comfy enough, i say go with the Bilsteins.
The Monroe SS will give you a harsher ride than the Bilsteins and i noticed less body roll when cornering.

Monroe's SS are too Harsh, I have them so I can vouch for it, especially on lowered applications.

Gotta watch now though on Vatozone's website they are pretty much listing ALL the Gabriel replacement shocks as "police/taxi" and they are not. The actual police spec ones they carry are the Gabriel Ultras, part number starts with a "G" for the fronts, lifetime warranty FTW.

I don't what shocks you are using, but even my Grandma thought my Fleetwood rode nice with the Monroe SS shocks. This was with the FE2 springs(same as 9C1 springs). My grandpa says it rode better than his 2002 DeVille, which has the FE1 suspension.

The ride height of the springs is, by an inch or so. But the shocks are all the same range, for the most part. Some rears do have more drop, due to the 91-92 Caprice rear skirts(and the other skirts).
