I never knew Airtex made water pumps, so I can't offer any feedback on that brand. But the Duralast pump from Autozone (Manufactured by ASC) is pretty nice. I've had a couple and never had any issues with them. They are brand new and come with a lifetime warranty. They cost about $120. I think Advance Auto Parts sells the ASC pump as well.

I can't comment on the Airtex model for our LT1s, but I can tell you I had one on my 1970 Olds 4-4-2, 455, 4-Speed car for a few years before I sold it with no problems whatsoever.

This was in Austin, TX where it would get ungodly hot especially in stop & go traffic.

I currently have the Duralast brand on my LT1, because #1 my dad was an assistant manager the 'Zone, and I got it cheaper than listed for on the web site -PLUS- the fact that it has a lifetime warranty; no questions asked.

HTH...

Just to throw a wrench in the fan.......

I got a new Airtex, and the shaft seemed tight but like a dummy
I put it on and it lasted 2 months. I then got one from Advance
(they had to order one, that's why I didn't use it in the first
place.)

It seems fine (only 2-300 miles and 18 dyno runs later). Only time
will tell.
