Default Rad differances 94 thru 96

Sorry for the dumb question. are all lt1 rads the same?
I've got a guy telling me the '94 rad is diferant than the 95-96 rads.
I thought they were all the same.
can someone shed some light.

The info you have is correct. The '94 and early '95 have an extra nipple on the top to feed a hose over to the coolant tank. GM did away with it in the later part of '95.

Other than that, they are the same, except that a 9C1 does not have an oil cooler on the driver's side.

Also, the reservior tank is different on the 94-early 95's. I don't think the old style tank is availible anymore though since when I had my accident in 2000, they couldn't get the 94 style tank so they used a 96 radiator and tank.

However, I know that Radiators dot com carries a nice radiator which has that extra port for the 94's and comes with a cap-off for use with the "96" tank. I got one in my car now as my GM replacement cracked a few years ago.

Most 9C1 (all I thought) have Oil (drive side) and Trans (pass side) Coolers up in front of the rad. Mine 94 did.

You're confusing coolers IN FRONT OF the radiator with coolers IN the radiator.


Your 9C1 had an oil cooler in front of the radiator, and a trans cooler in AND in front of the radiator.
